Anatomy of a breakfast sandwich

It almost seems too easy.  But we often take things for granted, so I’m gonna roll with it.  Maybe everybody doesn’t know how to make a breakfast sandwich?  If by chance this is you, here ya go:

– Fry thin, ground sausage patty in a pan until crispy.
– Melt cheese on sausage patty for last couple minutes of cooking.
– Lightly toast english muffin.
– Place cooked sausage and toasted, open-faced muffin on a plate in a warm oven.
– Scramble an egg and add to finish off the sandwich

Other great substitutions include bacon, ham, sausage links, lettuce, mushrooms, tomatoes, cream cheese, steak, hamburger.. just about anything.  Meat or egg must be in there to officially qualify as breakfast at my house, but to each his own.

  1. What’s up with the double fiber muffins? You havin’ some issues? I suppose you need it to help break down the loads of fat that make up your breakfast meat… I personally like to throw caution to the wind and avoid the fiber altogether.

  2. Nice attempt. however, you have some flaws. first off, always use american cheese. trust me, the meltliciousness cannot be duplicated with cheddar. also, a hard fried egg is preferable. finally, the entire thing needs to be cooked in a pan with bacon grease for legit flavor. also can be done while camping. let sit 2 minutes (for the cheese meltage) after putting it together. you can substitute ham or bacon for the sausage, but it is preferable to combine all 3. who uses whole grain muffins?
